The Engage Biography Series: Trevor Barkhouse

An introduction to Trevor Barkhouse in his own words:

After completing a diploma in small business and entrepreneurship in 2000 I transitioned into studying a double bachelor’s degree at Lethbridge College for Conservation Enforcement and Environmental Sciences.  I left college and worked as a full-time supervisor / project manager and part time HSE advisor for a western Canadian environmental company. This position led me through oil and gas sites, parks, industrial and commercial construction sites throughout western Canada. I left there in 2012 to broaden my experience and work as supervision and HSE management for a construction company completing the HRTD and EATL transmission lines for ATCO – Bechtel.  It was a very rewarding 2 years in which I grew as an HSE manager and gained knowledge of numerous other trades.

In 2014 I started with Engage Construction Management as a project HSE manager and after building my portfolio I climbed the ladder to fill the corporate HSE manager position.  I have participated in numerous projects from roles as Manager to HSE manager and have loved all of it. I guess when you find “home” you know that you must stay.  Engage fosters an environment of mutual respect for all employees and all are treated as managers in their own fields of specialty.  Engage workers and management all give 110% to every project while at the same time ensuring that we all have an equal family / work life balance.  Family means a lot to Engage and they are always there to support workers and their families.  Another great attribute of this company is the willingness to extend its hand in supporting local sports teams and charities and all employees are actively encouraged and given time to volunteer for local charities within the communities that we work.
